What is different about Christianity?

Christianity is indeed different than all of the other religions in the world. The difference is that God takes care of our spiritual and eternal well-being through the life and work of His Son.

Our spiritual healing (forgiveness) is a free gift that God's Son won for us by His life, death, and resurrection. That is the beauty of the Christian faith - it is based on what God has done for us, not on something that we must do for God.

What is different about the Lutheran Church?

We in the Lutheran Church take a straight forward approach to God's Word. We believe what the Bible says about God and our relationship with Him. We strive to communicate the truths that God reveals about Himself in the Bible. We rejoice that this is not a unique stance among Christian people around the world, so we continually share our faith and belief with both unbelievers and believers.

One of the hallmarks of Lutheranism is our understanding of Law and Gospel. God's law has its place and use, as does the Gospel. They have different uses. The law instructs us as to how we are to live, but can never save us. The law shows us our true condition as fallen people. On the other hand, the Gospel brings us God's grace. The Good News (the Gospel) is what Jesus has done to rescue us. Keeping these two doctrines straight in our teaching has always been important to Lutheran Christians.
